1 - Introduction
While we love high-end department store makeup as much as the next girl, it's simply not in our beauty budget to spend $22 on just one eyeshadow. So, we tasked makeup artist Mynxii White to create five gorgeous beauty looks using just five affordable products, and she did not disappoint. From bold plum lips that are date night-ready to icy blue smokey eyes that are surprisingly wearable, your makeup bag is about to become a lot lighter.
2 - Our 5 Products
To create all five looks Mynxii used Maybelline Great Lash Washable Mascara in Blackest Black, $6.40, Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in Nude Beige, $7.99, Lime Crime Opaque Lipstick in Poisonberry, $18.00, L'Oreal Lineur Intense Liquid Eye Liner in Carbon Black, $8.99, and Lime Crime Fantasy Palette in Alchemy, $35.00.
3 - Light Eye + Bold Plum Lip
Our first look is a plum twist on the classic bold red lip with a neutral but shimmery eye.
4 - Prep Skin
Cover up blemishes and even out your skin tone with foundation.
5 - Gold Eyeshadow
Apply the gold eyeshadow from the palette all over the eyelids, starting at the lower lash line and blending upward into the crease and toward brow bone. The shadow should be darkest at the lash line and fade as you blend upward.
6 - Mascara
To keep the eye light, apply just one coat of mascara to the upper lashes.
7 - Define Your Cheeks
Use a blush brush to apply a small amount of the purple eyeshadow from the palette to the apples of your cheeks and along your cheekbones. Be sure to blend downward.
8 - Plum Lip
To create the bold lip, apply the lipstick straight from the tube. Layer the color until you achieve a deep plum shade. Define the lip and prevent feathering by lining the skin around the lips with foundation or concealer. Use a concealer brush for precision.
9 - Light Eye + Bold Plum Lip
Did we mention that you can create this classic yet glam look using only four products?
10 - Dark Eye + Light Lip
This look de-emphasizes the lips for a daring look that plays up the eyes. The key to creating this smokey eye is White's use of the blue eyeshadow before layering on the gold shimmer.
11 - Prep Skin
For a fresh-faced base, apply foundation starting in the middle of your face and blending outward.
12 - Smokey Blue Shadow
Use an angled brush to apply the blue shadow from the palette to both your upper and lower lash lines. Then, layer the gold eyeshadow on top of the blue shadow on your upper eyelid and blend into the crease with an eyeshadow brush. The gold diffuses the blue and softens the eye.
13 - Touch Up
Blend the blue shadow at your lower lash line with foundation using a concealer brush.
14 - Mascara
To further define the eyes, apply a coat of mascara to both your upper and lower lashes.
15 - Flushed Cheeks
Use a blush brush to apply a small amount of the purple shadow from the palette high on your cheekbones starting at the apples of your cheeks and blending up toward the outer corners of your eyes.
16 - Lip Color
With an intense eye you don't want a competing lip. Apply a thin layer of the opaque lipstick straight from the tube and blend with your fingertips for subtle color.
17 - Tone Downed Lip
Bring down the lip color even more using a bit of foundation and a concealer brush.
18 - Dark Eye + Light Lip
With bare lips, subtle cheeks and natural-looking lashes, bold blue eyeshadow has never been easier to pull off.
19 - Dramatic Eye + Bold Lip
You're ready to channel your inner old Hollywood starlet with winged liner and a modern plum lip.
20 - Prep Skin
Apply foundation to even out your skin tone and conceal any blemishes.
21 - Shimmery Shadow
Use an eye shadow brush to apply glittery gold shadow on the entire lid.
22 - Mascara
Apply a coat of mascara to just your upper lashes. Placing emphasis on your upper lashes helps your eyes appear more open and awake.
23 - Subtle Cheeks
Lightly apply purple shadow to your cheeks with blush brush. With such dramatic eyes and lips, you just want to add a hint of color to the apples of your cheeks.
24 - Winged Liner
The secret to perfectly winged liner is to create the wing first. Extend the liner from the corner of your eye up toward the end of your brow. Now that you have the bottom portion of the wing, draw the upper line of the wing where you want it. Sweep the liner along your lash line from the inner corner of your eye to the outer corner of your eye and fill in the empty space of wing.
25 - Dramatic Eye + Bold Lip
Apply the plum lipstick straight from the tube for a perfectly pigmented pout. A bold lip paired with graphic liner brings the drama for a romantic date night or happy hour with the girls.
26 - Plum Color Wash
This monochromatic look is anything but monotone. Layered shades of purple and gold create eye-defining dimension that keeps this look from fading into an amethyst abyss.
27 - Prep Skin
Mask any discoloration or imperfections with foundation.
28 - Purple Shadow
Use an eyeshadow brush to apply purple shadow from the palette to your upper lids. Keep the shadow darkest at your lash line and blend into your crease. Using an angled brush, apply purple shadow along your lower lash line, starting from the outer corners of your eyes and working your way inward. To add dimension, apply gold eyeshadow from the palette to the inner corners of your eyes.
29 - Mascara
Apply two coats of mascara to your upper lashes. Get the most from your mascara and use the wand to pull the lashes inward, then use the want to fan the lashes outward for maximum coating on each lash. Wiggle the wand across your lower lashes once to apply a light coat of mascara.
30 - Lipstick Cheek Stain
For this look, White utilized the plum lipstick to create a cheek stain. Layer a few coats of lipstick on the back of your hand and use your fingertips to blend the lipstick along your cheekbones. You can also blend a small amount of foundation into the lipstick before applying the stain to your cheeks to create a creamier effect.
31 - Lips
Swipe one coat of lipstick directly from the tube to your lips and use your fingers to blend and distribute the pigment. You can tone down the color further with foundation and a concealer brush if necessary.
32 - Plum Color Wash
With a natural cheek, subdued lip, and the three-dimensional effect of layering the gold and purple shadows, this look lets your eyes take the spotlight.
33 - Light Eye + Light Lip + Luminous Skin
Who says party looks have to be all sultry lips and smokey eyes? All you need are four products to create a natural yet festive look.
34 - Prep Skin
Evenly apply foundation to cover up any problem areas and even out your skin tone
35 - Light Eye
With an eyeshadow brush, apply gold shadow all over your lids. Start at your lash line and blend up toward your brow bone.
36 - Mascara
Two coats of mascara on your upper lashes and one coat on your lower lashes creates the illusion of larger eyes
37 - Blush + Highlight
Use a blush brush to apply purple shadow along your cheekbones. Then, using a fan-shaped highlighting brush, highlight your cheekbones by applying gold shadow along the tops of your cheekbones above the blush.
38 - Light Lip
Lightly swipe the lipstick along your lips and use your fingers to blend and lighten the color.
39 - Light Eye + Light Lip + Luminous Skin
Glittery gold eyes, perfectly highlighted cheeks and lilac lips all complement each other in this prim and pretty look.
