How to Sell Your Old Mobile

By Prev Info - February 07, 2022

The ever-changing face of mobile phone technology has created a customer base where phone turnover is constant and often times speedy. A desire to have the newest gadgets with the most advanced features and functions has lead people to upgrade their phones constantly. If you are considering a new phone and have one that is perfectly functional and cosmetically intact, you may want to consider selling the older phone for a little bit of extra money.

1 - Trade in your old phone for a little cash. Research the value of your handset in its current condition. Understanding the going rate for the make and model of phone that you have will allow you to more successfully attempt a sale. A phone priced too high will not sell, and one priced too conservatively will leave you feeling cheated later on. Log on to your phone manufacturer's website and conduct a search for a certified used or refurbished version of the phone that you have.

2 - Auction your phone on Ebay. Ebay provides you with the option to set a fixed rate for your phone, or to leave it to chance by letting potential customers bid on the phone until the auction has ended. Even if you have never sold online before or have no plans to do so in the future, it does not take long to create an account and follow the site's guided instructions. These instructions will lead you through the steps on creating a description, adding pictures and documenting your shipping and payment terms for the buyer. You can even determine the length of time you want the auction to last.

3 - Contact the retailer where you purchased your phone. There are several major retail chains that sell refurbished phones that have been purchased back from customers like yourself. The criteria for these sales is much higher in terms of the condition of your phone, but a direct sale like this one allows you to avoid having to ship your phone, as with on-line sales.

Tips & Warnings

Although it is not a traditional sales method, you might want to consider donating your phone to a charity. At the end of the year, you will be able to write the donation off on your taxes.
